iWeek-Day 5-LAST DAY

Hey guys today is last day of iWeek here at the Tecnológico de Monterrey campus GDA, and also the last day of iTec digital identity.

When I arrived to the workshop Ken played a video about «Mental effort» and educational revolution through time.

Then Diego Zavala today’s guest speaker joined us and talked us about what we did yesterday with the video safari and intuit time we made an activity in teams, which was to create a short video about anything we wanted, like a story, Toño and I decided to work as a team and we made this video really fast… Here I post the video.

After this activity we had another conference with another two guest speakers named  Rebecca Hogue and Helen DeWaard, the soaked about (Student) Blogging and the Fact of Other People (Rebecca), My Renovations and Mapping Digital Literacy and Practice (pdf) (Helen).

So this is all for this iWeek 2016, this week was very useful because all the information we shared and learned as a community, which in some part of your life you would be using it.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in these activities for their time and their knowledge shared.

When you realize classes start on Monday again…

iWeek-Day 4

Hey guys almost last day at iWeek at the Tecnológico de Monterrey campus GDA!

Not much to say today but first I want to tell you something! I fall asleep today so I was a little late to Ken’s iTec activity, because I forgot to set my alarm, fortunately I woke up. Here is the probe…

And here is Ken’s response…

I was like OMG two hours!!!, then I started to breathe again after those little points.

When I arrived to the university, we went through the campus to make our #VideoSafari; the video contains the things I most like about studying here at Tec GDA and some other stuff from daily life outside the university. Here I post the video for you to enjoy it.

At the end of the day, we had another conference with the guest speaker named Maha Bali, who talked about Critical Digital Citizenship: Promoting Empathy and Social Justice Online and Knowing the Difference Between Digital Skills and Digital Literacies, and Teaching Both. Teaching us a lot, also the question and answer was vey active, which I liked.

So this was day 4 in iWeek, see you in next post from day 5 and last.

iWeek-Day 3

Hey guys once again… but now in day 3 from iWeek here at Tec de Monterrey campus GDA.

Today was algo a productive day as well; first we had another conference with three guest speakers, Autumm Caines , Bonnie Stewart and Sundi Richard.

They introduced us to the topic of “Visitors and Residents” which is very interesting and useful, because it defines in part your digital identity based on the time and use you give to the different applications during the day. They also gave us an activity really cool, which made me realice if I am more like a resident or a visitor in different applications I use during the day. (Photo attached)

My personal chat of «Visitor or Resident»

The second part of the day was to make an interview to a random person in the campus or outside of the campus about anything I have learned during the week. So I decided to make a video showing these knowledge.

Here is the video attached from my Youtube account:

Guys… This is all for today! See you in the next post… Just wait for it!!!

iWeek-Day 2

So second day of activities in iWeek in the Tecnológico de Monterrey campus GDA #iTecGDA.

We started at the same time as usual… but the first activity was delayed because of the rain. This was a great activity because it made us to think outside of the box, this means that encouraged our creativity by using technology and different sources such as magazines, people around and the environment. In my particular case I took some photos using my mobile with the Snapchat app (because I have no storage available to use the regular camera) and then downloading to my computer.

Here I attach the photos I took with the help of Toño.

After finishing this activity we had a break… then the next part of the day began.

The second part of the day was in the auditorium attending to two conferences via Skype or something similar. The first conference started around 11:00 am and the guest speaker were Laura Gogia and Lee Skallerup; who talked with us about their many experiences with blogging and digital identity.

The second conference was given by other two guest speakers named Alan Levine and Amy Burvall; they talked about how to decide what to post or not to post in the social media and the risks about it, the thing I most got interested about was cat-fishing and Adam’s personal experience with cat-fishing on Facebook.

So as conclusion… today was a very productive day, full with useful and valuable information related with personal information and digital identity in the web and social media. We can learn about this experiences instead of freaking out with the situation; deciding what is safe to post online; because everything you post under your name is an actual representation of who you are.

Starting iWeek-Day 1

Hey guys!!!!

It is official today September 26 2016… we have just began iWeek here at Tec de Monterrey GDA #iTecGDA and I am really happy about it!

In this week we do not have regular clases instead we have different activities during the week, learning in a different way outside the classroom; learning by solving real problems in the community.

Right now I am participating in an activity with Ken Bauer about «Digital identity» and it is really interesting… that’s why I joined it. So basically is about your digital footprint on internet, social media and everything enclosed with personal information and digital devises and how to use them responsibly.

During the week I will be posting about the things are happening here in the campus and what we are learning. So do not be impatient, this blog is going to be full o interesting post and really useful information, you can also learn about and use it in your virtual life (Yes!, your virtual life because we all know that you also use at least on social media.) or even you can share this information with your fiends and family.

So see you all during the week.
